How To Wash Minky Fabric
Minky is soft, fuzzy fabric that feels great against baby skin. It’s perfect for swaddling babies and making blankets, but washing it can be tricky. Here are some tips on how to care for your minky fabric. Enjoy it!
Step 1 Choose the Right Detergent
There are two main types of detergents used to wash minky fabric: powder and liquid. Powder detergents work well with delicate fabrics like minky, while liquid detergents are better suited for more durable materials like cotton. If you use a powder detergent, make sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully. Both types work very well from my experience.
Step 2 Add Cold Water
Adding cold water to your washing machine will help prevent shrinking. It also helps keep your laundry soft and fluffy.
Step 3 Let It Soak
If you wash your minky fabric by hand, use lukewarm water and mild soap. Avoid using hot water, detergent, bleach, or fabric softener. Remember soak it for a while 5min is ok.
Step 4 Dry
Do NOT dry your minky item by hanging them up to dry. It will cause the fibers to stretch out and become brittle. Instead, lay flat to dry.
If you need other soft muslin fabric for baby clothing sewing, coopertailor textile is the right choice.
